thats by far the highest tbn of any cj oil to date.
i just checked my specs on the new cj deere plus 50II 15w40 & 10w30, they are both at 10.5 tbn, and according to their literature in their engines with their filters you can run 500 hrs.

Still does not address the ash content.

The TRC that Rob-Roy posted up would qualify for CJ-4 with ash at .99%. Really nice TBN as well. That stuff should last a long time! TBN is not limited by CJ-4 standards. It's just that you don't see many lubes that are CJ-4 with TBN much over 10. As I said, with ULSD fuel being predominant now, it's not really nearly as important.

But, the stuff F.M.-Rob posted up from BatonRouge has an ash content of 1.2%, which I think is too high for CJ-4 certification (limited to 1%?).

There is no telling if they actually do it on a once a year basis. I really don't know.
But, our fire apparatus are still holding up strong.

I do, often wonder, if the oil is as good as they say it is. They do some hands on testing and comparisons there at the office and I've heard its very interesting.

The oil I sent off for UOA is this line:

This oil is called L-605 with TBN 12, the other L-605 Plus, TBN 14.
They updated their website obviously in October, but the bottle I have at home reads "formulated from high quality virgin paraffin base stock oils"

yeah the dates are old but reguardless look at the tbn on the uoa its extremely high for the mileage 9k miles and a 8 tbn to me this is impressive even if it is a older oil

I think they look like very stout oils.

I just don't think the 605 PLUS has any real claim to CJ-4 with an ash content at 1.2%, which is over the limit, IIRC. However, I have been wrong before, so help me out here if I'm off base.

So far these are some impressive numbers for a budget HDEO. And since my local Wal-Mart has stopped stocking the 10W30 and 10W40 versions of MCSB in 5qt jugs, I think I'll move to the 15W40 because...
