I was wondering what you all thought of the Motorcraft 15w40 oil for the money. I run this in the summer in my 08 6.4 diesel with 5000 miles OCI. I buy it from Wal-Mart in the 5 quart jugs for $11.50.

It's a good quality oil; I would use it without hesitation.

But if you are going to qualify your question with a monetary theme ( "... for the money."), I would have to say that there are lubes that are just as good, if not better, for less money if you will just shop the sales and/or rebates.

Example: this fall Delvac 1300 15w40 was BOGOF at $12.99/gallon, making it about $6.50/gallon out the door! You simply cannot beat that price unless someone gave it to you.

For 5k mile OCI plans, ANY CJ-4 rated lube in the correct viscosity will work just fine in your truck. Might as well let your wallet be your guide and reap the savings.

The O Reilly and Wal Mart BOGOF on Delvac is done and gone here. I use the Motorcraft stuff, which is just repackaged Connoco Philips Fleet oil in my 440 New Yorker.

MC in either flavor (15W-40 or 10w30) is good stout oil. Where it's made is really irrelevant in regards to the specs and/or factory recommendation. I have put it in my 7.3 and noticed no difference either way.
