Wondering where I can get the product data spec sheet on it. you know the VI, visc, TBN etc. for the current 15w40 CJ-4/SM motorcraft. Would really like to see it... haven't been able to find it anywhere.

On a 2nd note, I guess M.C. came out with a 5w-40 as of Jan 08... spec sheet on that by chance? I'm debating switching from the conventional 15w40 to a 5w40syn. but the owner's book for the 6.0 doesn't spec it. the book for the 6.4 however, does spec the use of 5w40 in hot climate. Not sure why it's "approved" for the 6.4, but not for the 6.0.

Huh, not really sure how to "try him" lol. but If he could chime in with a link!!! that'd be great, M'kay. That's the one reason I quit using M.C. 15-40, I never could get a spec sheet... that doesn't sit well with me. Are they hiding something? that and theres the profit issue too. Ford sells it to make $$. You don't see chevrolet selling 'oil' per say. I'm not knocking the idea, but just be forth coming with info. I've used M.C in my '07 2x's and switched to Castrol.

And who makes it for ford?

If its a 76 product- it's good oil. I run my truck pretty hard and had good used oil analysis with their 15W40 Royal Triton. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of 76 or Kendall diesel oils.

Seriously...He is probably one of the biggest users of that oil on this board- I would PM him and see what info he can provide. We kinda have fun with him sometimes, but this board is about informing users and educating them- no matter what the means. I'm sure he will have info on it.

I'd like to use the stuff b/c it meets ford spec, and comes in a 5qt jug for a good price. But the mystery behind it bothers me.

Hello Guys

Toy4x4Runner

I have been using Rotella T 15w40 for some time now, my 7.3 PSD seems to like it. Nothing wrong with the MC 15w40 made by Conoco-Phillips for Ford. I have used that as well with no issues. My biggest problem with the MC 15w40, too hard to find in the jug size. Got tired of dealing with 15 quart bottles each oil change. I do not have the specs but from what I remember the specs were good. You may find the specs on the Ford products web site then you can decide if the MC 15w40 will meet your needs.

Ruby
