I've been wondering if Quaker State Q Horsepower is the premium product over PP...

I personally thought that Quaker State Ultimate Durability was the backwash of SOPUS Products, after using it in my 2010 Accord I am a new believer in QS. The car loves it (smoother and peppier) and I know I'm not imagining. I know it is a new car but I've done 4 changes, 2 w/PP and 2 w/Quaker State Ultimate Durability, the Quaker State Ultimate Durability is what I will be using.
Side note: I have a 2010 Civic EX also and used Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Pennzoil Ultra both are the same in terms of noise and vibration. I really wanted PU to make a dif in that category but it didn't. I think I'm going the way of Pennzoil conventional SN from now on because it is just a 'rough' riding car. Honda chinced on the 2010 Civic IMO.

YES Quaker State Ultimate Durability is a great oil

I've seen that comparison before.

It seems UD and PP are similar in many areas, but each have strength and weaknesses.

IMO Mobil 1 Extended Performance and SynPower look like the class of the oils tested (besides Amsoil, of course). SP is a little weak on TBN, otherwise it stacks up very well with the two extended drain oils on everything else. Makes sense - the used oil analysis show SP to be a great oil, but not for extended drains.

I have some UD (5 qts) and a lot of SP (40 qts). Not sure which I'll use in the next oil change in the Vibe. I might go with UD and save the SP for the Equinox because it has a DI and Synpower did well on the oxygen uptake test, while UD didn't. SP also has a better NOACK.

Let's face it; if the left axis on that chart were scaled differently and there were error bars present, you'll be hard-pressed to find any difference at all between QS and PP in those charts (and several other oils as well).

When looking at all the specs of the two oils as well as they way they are marketed, I'm leaning towards believing that Quaker State Ultimate Durability has slightly better basestocks for the durability claims while PP has better additives for the cleaning claims.

"Rough Riding" is the tires. You need Goodyear Assurance Comfort Treads for a smoother, quieter ride.

This Amsoil graph doesn't show me much except that paying twice as much for synthetic over 'dino' is a waste. If I lived in a warmer climate (ie: Texas, Florida, California) I'd stick with dino and save some money. A recent UOA showed Pennzoil conventional doing over 10K w/o a problem.

Well said. In terms of percentage, the differences are minute. To some, that's still significant.

I've always have found it interesting how practically every test that Amsoil does has them finishing first. Are these tests flawed or are they legit? Then again, how legit is an UOA. These are questions that "inquiring minds want to know."

I personally have never used Amsoil and because of the price probably never would. But I don't begrudge those that do. We all have a right to spend our money the way we want to---whether that means 3,000 miles synthetic OCI's or buying very expensive synthetic.

I wouldn't say flawed but less applicable. For example, if you had 5% fuel dilution would you really GAS if Amsoil didn't shear as much when compared to other oild or would you be more interested in finding a remedy the dilution problem?
