Motive Power Bleeder

Q1: I know we should always check for leaks before using the bleeder, but does anyone know how often we should replace the plastic hoses to prevent it from cracking and spraying brake fluid everywhere in the middle of a brake job?

Q2: Motive was bought by AGS, is AGS still a US owned company?
AGS is now owned by a private equity firm. Since Motive was acquired, their customer service is in the toilet. Replacement parts was a 10/10 experience before, now their support line is a black hole and the couple things I bought failed fairly quickly.

For anyone using these bleeders, you don’t actually need to put fluid in them. I was concerned about getting fluid everywhere, because that sort of thing usually happens to me. I just filled the car’s reservoir, and hooked up the empty bleeder, using air pressure in the bottle to push on the fluid in the reservoir. You just need to keep topping up as you bleed old fluid out.

I bought the Euro cap and hose and am planning on re-purposing my airbrush regulator to provide the air pressure. I have installed some ball valves to make topping of easier.

Take a look at Speedi-Bleed, it can be adapted easily for a small portable air compressor, IIRC someone on here called them and they put a fitting on for that. The adapters are superior to the Motive plastic ones, made in Canada.
