Good afternoon all,

I know the Motive Power Bleeder has been discussed before, but wanted to add my review of it. I bought the one that included the 1107 adapter and used it this afternoon on my wife's 2002 Lancer.

First, the 1107 adapter is a really tight fit in the Mitsu - it wouldn't go on and I kept looking at, knowing it was the right one. Finally, gave it some pressure, which seated the O-ring and it tightened down on the master cylinder very tightly and securely. This is NOT a universal adapter like comes with the unit.

Leaked checked per the instructions and had no leaks.

Filled with two quarts of Valvoline DOT 3/4, pressurized to 10 PSI and went to town.

Opened the right rear bleeder and was rewarded with a very slow trickle of fluid. Hhhmmn, this doesn't seem right. Increased the pressure to 15 PSI and got more flow. (20 PSI is the suggested maximum) Took about 5 minutes until the old fluid was purged from the right rear. As I got closer to the master cylinder, time to purge out the old fluid was much reduced. Original fluid wasn't that bad - honey colored. Not bad for six years - this was the OEM fluid. Used maybe 1.5 quarts of the two quarts I put in it, but probably could have gotten away with using only 1 quart.

Test drove the car as was very happy - good pedal feel and lots of braking power.

So, what did I think of the Motive Power Bleeder? Well, on the Mitsu it worked well. It's not as fast as a set of Speed Bleeders. I think I'd rather have installed a set of Speed Bleeders, but never did get a response from Speed Bleeder on what bleeders fit the Mitsu...

Next up will be a brake fluid change in the '97 Mustang.

later,
b

Hey all,

Hate responding to my own post but it's too late to edit. It just occurred to me that one might be able to use the Motive as a pressurized brake fluid reservoir when using Speed Bleeders or the usual manual method.

Anyone ever try this? I might on the '97 Mustang.

thanks,
b

My experience also, slow trickle at 10 psi, on a Subaru.

Yep, the motive should work very well with the speedbleeders. If you run low on pressure, the speedbleeder closes. I just wonder how strong the ball/spring in the speedbleeder is? will 10-15psi open it???

I have just tried my motive extractor on bleeding and it works great. Slow trickle and sucks some air past the bleeder but it works really well and the pedal is nice and firm on both Lexus & Honda. I just don't pump it up beyond -10psi so I am not sucking garbage past the caliper piston seals. -8 seems to work well. A bit slow but gives you time to take a coffee break which all DIYers like anyway...
