Hi everyone...does anyone know of a motion activated kit I can add to my existing lawn sprinkler system so they go on when there is motion? I've seen the 'scarecrow' type that attach to a garden hose, but I'd rather not use one of those.

Thanks!

If your sprinkler system is electrically operated, there should be no problem hooking up any security light type motion sensor. Instead of a lamp, it will turn on your water solenoid valve.

Search the web from companies such as hunter, rainbird, and toro. I've seen ones to keep deer away, but it just connects to a hose.

I think some of the scarecrow type sprayers have a reservoir. Fill it up with coyote urine and whatever you're trying to get rid of will stay away for a LONG time. Get a second one and fill that up with skunk spray extract. You'll have the most serene yard in the city.

Thanks, but I've seen those. The problem I see with this type is it will activate when the sprinklers go on.

The urine is a good idea but again, the sprayer will needlessly activate when the sprinklers go on.

Yup, mostly dogs and cats, occasionally a raccoon.

Animal deterrent?

Yes, dogs and cats mostly.

This sounds like what I need.

Yes they're electrically operated valves. So I would need the motion sensors themselves and they would piggyback onto the timer/controller connections going to the valves or do they need some type of power source to activate the valves?

Thanks.

The tree in my front yard hangs over the driveway. The pigeons sit up there all night and poo on the concrete below. Do you think they could sit on the other side of the tree that's hangs over the lawn? No, they gotta sit on the side that's over the driveway. If all I had to worry about was the occasional dog or cat entering my yard, I'd be thrilled.
