Most impressive wagon Ive ever been in...

What kind of license plate is that, just a picture and the numbers outside the plate?

In Texas the ride that says “I have money” is a SUBURBAN*

The car that says “I have money, brains and taste”?…..the AMG Wagon!

*Suburban drivers have the highest average income of all new vehicle buyers.
Suburban is one of our 2 company cars, the other is a cadillac xt5.

I suspect you're right, although I have to wonder why people with money to burn would buy a Chevy with a cheap looking interior.
An Audi is so much nicer.
An Audi is so much SMALLER …and German. Every Texas Rancher has a Suburban and every other Rich city Texan with a family has one too.

The Suburban has had the highest buyer demographic of any GM offering for decades and has been the national car of Texas since the eighties at least.

Around here, it’s a Tesla, specifically Tesla SUV or the Performance models with those high performance rubber band tires that cost over $500 each and you can’t do full rotation because the rear tires are wider than the front tires, that says ‘I got money.’ Telsa has been taking market shares from BMW, Mercedes, and mid-range European among doctors and lawyers.

For those with money and great generational wealth, it is usually a truck or SUV to pull an RV and a plain sedan from Honda or Toyota parked inside a 3-car garage 6-bedroom house.

Those with a lot of hidden money still drive minivans and pickup trucks around here. My neighbor and his wife are loaded and they drive a tiny Nissan and live in a average size house long paid off. I don’t have a clue where they keep their money but he retired under the old pension plan of 2% per year for 35 years of service and was exempted from paying into social security. His wife was a head nurse at a big hospital in DC for 15 years and retired with 40 years pension.

The broke people here drive fancy cars and either with high debt or stay with their parents or both.

If I had an unlimited car budget, this would be #1 or #2 on my list for a daily driver.
If I have over $4 millions USD (not peso or some gibberish currency), I would have a high performance wagon like an AMG or BMW 5 Series or an highly modified Subaru Crosstrek or Forester Wilderness. For now, my Honda Fit is my go to for everything. I am waiting for Honda to put a 2.0 Turbo in the HRV to get it. It would be perfect balance of go fast enough and utilitarian enough for every day uses.

It's a Hawaii Specialty Plate with the 5 digits blurred out (in AA### format than the common AAA ### format). Anyone can request one and an additional fee is added to the yearly vehicle registration fee to support Hawaii's national parks and programs. In the pic is for the Polynesian Voyaging Society. I have one for the Hawaii Volcanoes Natl Park.

The numbers (mo/yr format when it expires) on the side is the safety check decal.

Another one of El Jefe Grandes AMG's.

Not only is this thing super nice, it's one seriously fast machine.

The guy in the 911 that thought he was going to show us the money going down Hana Highway last night got schooled.

He ran up on us in the twisties and when the road straightened out he just got alongside us close enough for a glimpse of the flaxen haired beauty riding shotgun with him to mouth out the words (edit- MOD) as we instantly matched their speed and in very short order, pulled away like a freight train snapping off shifts while this thing howled to redline a few times while all 4 of us laughed like teenagers.

Doug Demuro years ago told a story about picking up his E63 AMG Wagon, and it being one of his favorite vehicles. He drove it home cross country after picking it up. It was pewter in color or as he called it "old person gray". He dusted many a vehicle.

How about swapping a Civic Type R engine into the hrv with a manual transmission swap?

I totally get where you are coming from and it's true most guys driving these hi5 and 6 figure cars have them on lease and really cant afford them to begin with. If you cant afford a new high end bimmer or benz you really cant afford a used one.

My Jefe isn't that guy. I got tons of respect for my Boss, a badge not earned from me lightly. Ive worked for this guy 17 years now and he walks the walk.

In 93 this same guy quit his high paying corporate gig , strapped a bifold trade show booth to the top of his volvo and headed to vegas with his wife new baby, and two products he made in his garage.
They got married at the little white chapel in a rented caddy convertible.

That grew into a 100M a year 200 person endeavor that I have the privilege and heavy responsibility of running.

For 9 figure people they are more modest than most in that realm, and he's smart about his spends, putting big money into investments and real estate, and only some money into just a few toys. He buys most of his stuff used, but new under warranty and saves hundreds of k off new.
