most disappointing car you ever had.

96 intrepid ES 3.5(6?)
I actually traded a 3.8 bonneville to another guy for it thinking it was an upgrade.
It looked cooler, and the specs were theoretically better, but it was simply a worse car in every category for me.

When I got a company car I was a single guy and already had a truck so I got rid of my personal 93 SHO which was just awesome.

1986 Mazda 626 - it was an emergency purchase, my wife was taking night classes at a University 100 miles from where we were living at the time and we didn't want to mile out our brand new Z71 Silverado nor get clobbered on the fuel. The car was a; mostly well maintained (I did find one sketchy previous repair over our ownership period but not a big problem), no rust, well optioned, mid-mileage (not low but not high), perfect condition interior car. You couldn't ask for more. However, over the course of ownership, numerous subsystems went bad (charging system, fuel system etc.) and the repair costs (I did all the labour and diagnostics so this was just parts) easily beat out the fuel savings. It left her stranded once as well which is a real red line for me in car ownership. I like the new Mazda cars I see on the road, the colors, I read about the reliability and function... they seem like a great car... but I sure struggle to shake off that past experience.

Easily my wife's 2013 Equinox. I regret not doing a little more homework before choosing that pitiful heap. Both cam phaser solenoids failed, turns out they were known to be problematic and the replacements were a newer design. Both front doors started rusting along the bottom edge when it was not even 3 years old, another common issue. Torque converter leaked ATF. Front brakes habitually warped. Burned a quart of oil in about 2000 miles, and we got the letter from GM admitting the rings were faulty. Dealer wouldn't fix it, insisted the oil burning was because of the clogging PCV orifice, and wanted $600 to clear it. Pulled the intake manifold myself, PCV hole was not clogged. Air injection ports clogged up with soot, another known issue, had to take it to the shop because it was going to have to pass e-check and the CEL was on because of it. While they were in there, they found the exhaust manifold was cracked, another infamous problem. $1500 later and we got it through e-check. Shop noted that the muffler again had a hole in it, and this was already on muffler #3. Just a month after that, the blessing in disguise was it got into an accident at 80,000 miles and declared a total loss. Good riddance.

I had the lowest price honda civic in 2001 and had no problems and put 234000 on it...Just because it is the lowest price it still should be a good and reliable car...my Honda was....My Ford Contour was not.. It had many issues right from day one....
What? You had a D17 civic and never had a head gasket fail in 234,000 miles? You sir had a unicorn.
with the D17 it's not really a question of if, but when? And its usually between 130-175k

2004 GMC Envoy XUV, yes that one with the fancy roof. The novelty wore off real quick and should have just gotten a Tahoe or Suburban as I'd still own it. An Avalanche would have also been a way better choice.

You guys keep cars too long. The longer you keep a car the more stuff will go wrong with it, that's a given. Buy one that checks out good with recent maintenance, and drive it a year or two, then sell and repeat before it needs more work.
Not all of us are full of cash. I'm still driving my 2002 jeep daily. No way I could afford a car payment right now

To me my 2004 Subaru WRX Wagon.

If you spun up engine past 3500 RPM it very engaging to drive albeit power came on like a slingshot. Absolute blast to drive on gravel or snowy roads.

Below that RPM in normal traffic/driving the low tech turbocharged 2.0L was pretty anemic especially with AC and driving in traffic felt slow and heavy.

I kept 7 years and had not a single problem in 77k miles driving.

A used 2005 Subaru Forester XT we bought at our FCA dealership. It had an odd engine issue where it would start running insanely rough that they couldn't solve, so it was shipped over to Subaru, who had it for two weeks and also couldn't solve it. Dealer ended up buying it back and we bought the '06 Charger R/T my wife had for several trouble-free years.

Hyundai Azera.
The miserable car never went more than 3-4 months without having to go into the shop for warranty repairs. When I got rid of the car it still had unresolved issues. The people who purchased the car after i had it continued to have problems and traded it a year later.
I will NEVER purchase another Hyundai product or recommend them to anyone else.
