I posted before about using a shop vac to instantly unclog drains. Here is another trick. I had to change the wax ring under a toilet and had very little time. I drained the tank and bowl trap with a powerful wet/dry shop vac. 20 seconds and the toilet was dry and could be lifted off the mounting and set aside without the usual water spill.

Now if only I could fix the lower back pain from lifting the toilet :-)

I tend to aerosol a bit of bacteria once in a while.

I use my shop vac as the suction source for doing lawn mower oil changes. I basically have a "catch can" setup where the waste oil drains into an old juice jug. The vacuum stays clean/dry the entire time.

I used mine to suck the dirt ot of some fence post holes as I was digging them down. The catch bucket is heavy when it's filled with dirt.

I use Taco Bell as a tool for clean out when I start feeling backed up. Works every time.

They really are handy for clogged sinks. I know I've used wet/dry vacs many times for clogs. I've also done the "catch can" trick like mentioned above for various automotive fluids.

I suppose you could shove another hose in the out flow port on the vac and route it out a door or window if you're concerned with atomized goodness.
