Nope, no cage. Pretty much a stock 300c SRT8 with a Diablo tune on it! Michelin tires, Stoptech pads.

I must say, the lines on that car are gorgeous! It looks modern without looking like a spacecraft; something other car manufactures are having trouble with.

Is it an automatic with the flappy paddles, as Jeremy Clarkson likes to say?

Nope, it's an 06 like mine, the auto is manually shifted with the stick in the console.

Smooth does equal quick eh! Its almost boring to watch some of his videos as there's no "drama" but I'm sure if you were in the car, it would be fun to be on the edge that consistantly.

For my next track day I'll have to work on less "thrills" and more smooth speed, my in car video is almost comical now, with how fast I turn the wheel to rotate the car... Maybe some of it is the difference between 40-50-60mph corners and 80-90-100+ corners but not that much!

Odd question - but would one really need a cage in a unibody vehicle? The roof itself acts as structure to the entire vehicle.

Many sanctioning bodies require a roll cage at certain levels no matter the construction of the vehicle.

The 300 is a uniquely rigid platform though and this is why a 4 door sedan is out on a road course whipping up on 2 door sports cars!

The roof on a unit body car though isn't all that strong, so it can't take multiple rolls, also a cage is mostly used for helping with crashes between cars and with the wall.
For lapping, no cage is needed, but for positional racing I can only think of rubber classes in ice racing where a cage isn't mandatory. Most guys do run some sort of cage though, as getting T-bonded at 40-50mph is a (remote) possibility...

I'm sorry, I was thinking of the old Formula 5000 when I posted the response above.

What were/are the engine rules/displacement limits of Formula A??
