Heavier, unused MTF should be quieter if anything.
I recommend AMSoil gear oil and am getting negative feedback...

Never had it with stock or redline tranny fluid
but after draining and replacing redline with amsoil and ensuring proper level drain and fill of the fluid, i can hear a pronounced gear change noise from 2nd to 3rd and definitely 3rd to 4th.
Seems to me the amsoil 75w-90 tranny fluid is alot less viscous than the redline?
anyone else encounter these symptoms?
thanks!
Truth is after going to AMSOIL GL-4 75W 90 I do hear more overall noise. I was going to

go back to the VW/Audi fluid this weekend in fact. As it even feels a little rougher in 2nd and 3rd now; kinda scared. Changed it few thousand miles ago is all too.
I do not believe it is all in my head either and a 2 guys in the local vw club have sworn AMSOIL messed up their VW Corrado and TDI Passat trannys respectively. I can dig up some numbers of their old posts as one took it to be tested and found it was way off for vw specs. So take that for what it is worth. Not sure why I even went away from the OEM stuff as that is [censored] good tranny/diff oil IMHO.
ah yes, i meant redline MT90. the amsoil in there now is their reg synthetic 75W-90 as recommended

Manual Transmission & Transaxle Gear Lube 75W-90 Product Code: MTGQT-EA
as thats what they said and sent when i specified my car model and options. the distributor checked online and i verified it was correct.
should i switch to their severe gear oil? seems really thin.
