More Counterfeit NGK Iridium IX Spark Plugs

I would never consider 5starautoparts2015 as “supposedly reputable”. Good that you received a refund.

Thanks for posting the pictures. It is helpful to see the difference in the fakes and real plugs. It's a shame that we have to watch out for this now.

Possible stupid question but, where do they actually manufacture these counterfeit parts?

second and third world factories- normally paid off and protected by the local govts and with a few things- the actual OEM makes the bootlegs.

It takes very heavy and specialized equipment, many separate operations, medium skilled labor, lots of raw materials and a supply chain to make plugs- they are not made by 2 guys in their shop on the weekend.

I received fake Motorcraft plugs from Amazon and asked Ford to investigate and verify. They said they would form my pictures and were going to order from the same vendor. After multiple attempts to get an answer I eventually gave up and bought from Advance Auto and they were different. Pretty disappointed in Ford though. They continually disappoint and fail me all the time making me rethink my next vehicle for sure. Customer service and quality simply aren't the same anymore at Ford.

I'm waiting for NGK verification before I let that out, even though I'm 99.9% sure what they will say.

It was not Amazon or Rock Auto.
I received counterfeit spark plugs from Rock Auto. I did not know they existed. Two years after installation, the 2012 Ford Fiesta started missing. The plugs were melted to the insulator and had a gap of 0.100" (huge). I did not contact Rock Auto due to the timeframe. I will be more careful next time.

I ran into the same stuff with aquapel window treatment (think rain-x only better)
tons of fakes on amazon esp. this is fulfilled by amazon too.
i was 75% fake rate on amazon..
ebay was 20% fake.
Aquapel needs to do something as the counterfeit versions are rampant over the last few years

Just amazing that people would put in the time and effort involved to fake spark plugs. Moronic scumbags. God help us all avoid these vermin .
(people perceived as despicable and as causing problems for the rest of society)

It is a big operation to build a set of fake plugs that at a glance look like the real thing. The set I received must have been low-grade copper flash plated with nickel to look like iridium. I bought them from Rock Auto. In less than 30k, the electrodes melted clear down to the insulator. Rock Auto has many reliable suppliers. It has to be a big counterfeit project to infiltrate them. China can not get buyers for their brand, so they counterfeit NGK and Denso popular plugs and attempt to infiltrate distributers with the fake plugs. They work fine for a year or two. By then, people scratch their head and try and figure out why their engine is missing.

"partscontainer" on eBay is an authorized reseller of Bosch and NGK parts. I have been buying from them for years. They have their own warehouse in SoCal, but also use the same wholesale network your local repair shop uses, so I have had NGK plugs dropped shipped to me in a couple days from a local wholesale parts warehouse in my city.

It is good to know "partscontainer" sells the real deal. Thanks 👍👍
