Safety Recall #18E-049
Part Numbers Affected

Federal-Mogul Motorparts LLC has issued a safety recall on the following parts:

DS300044 - Tie Rod End, Right Side, Outer
DS800981A - Steering Linkage Assembly
DS800980A - Steering Linkage Assembly

The affected steering parts were sold under the Moog brand name. They fit certain 2003-13 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 4x4 trucks.
Identifying the Affected Parts

The DS300044 steering linkage can be identified by the silver cover plate and black dust boot.

The DS800980A and DS800981A steering assemblies can be identified by the Moog branded letters on the dust boot and the gold-colored cover plate with "MOOG PROBLEM SOLVER" on it.

What You Should Do

If you have one of the affected parts installed on your vehicle, discontinue use immediately. Please contact Federal-Mogul Motorparts directly at 1-877-489-6659. They will help you determine if your parts are potentially defective.

If your parts fall under this recall, Federal-Mogul Motorparts will reimburse a maximum of $152.00 in labor costs. This includes removing the defective tie rod, installing a new one, and adjusting the alignment. They will also cover the cost of the new part.
Cause of the Recall

The crimped portion of the right side, outer tie rod may loosen. This will allow the inner and outer portions to separate. If the 2 parts separate, it may cause a loss of steering. This will increase the risk of a crash.

Saw a dodge truck lose its passenger side TRE in traffic, at about 10 MPH. Truck was bro-dozered up with larger tires etc which at the time I felt was the primary cause but could have been merely aggravating if Moogs were in there. The way his wheel was flopping around he could have damaged CV joints and other stuff as well. Not a situation I'd want to be in.

Yea at work we have that posted near the coca cola machine and no one even looks at it.. I figured i would post it here so if anyone has the parts listed they can get it taken care of....

If this helps anyone please post your results
