Mom's new ride...

Looks great!

Get her a good sun shade for the windshield
and good tint for the rear windows, know that the car interior will get HOT after being in the sun, radiant heat from the roof

I drove one of these once, ex-womans mom had one. I like the styling, especially when it was newer and fresher. My only complaint was the gas pedal. It's travel-to-acceleration was wonky. I had to push it way to far to get any response, made it difficult to modulate. I hope they improved that later on.

It's hard to find a car with something other than a black interior any more. You'd be surprised how many black on black vehicles you see around in Az including Phoenix, people make it work somehow.

Hope your parents have good luck with it!

I've got a dark grey with a black interior in Florida.....won't be doing that again.

Decent SUV with some cargo space … in laws have one a couple years so far … no issues …
They do 5k on M1 and don't think they plan to run longer …

I had a 2017 Acadia rental once with the 2.5 N/A engine. It was fine around town, but hwy acceleration was abysmal. It actually had to downshift a gear just to maintain 80 mph cruising speed.

Alas, the Terrain is smaller and lighter, so I'd expect it to be adequate in this case.

My buddy has one. No issues with it. He uses M1. His OCI is 5 months or 5K miles.

As far as a Black vehicle goes...A friend has a Black Tahoe and I have a White Tahoe. I see zero difference in the heat in each one in Miami jungle heat. With tint and a sunshade on the windshield your Mom will be good to go as long as the a/c is working properly.

Good to see it was serviced regularly.

I do notice a difference between darker and lighter vehicles, however a/c performance makes all the difference. A black car with good a/c is much more comfortable than a white car with poor a/c.

My comment had more to do with what happens after the car sat in a parking lot for a while, like after you went to the mall or otherwise left it out during the day. There is a noticeable difference in how high the temps reach inside a black car vs white car. Black interior car will take longer to cool off, and if it has leather, you may not even be able to sit down or touch the steering wheel until you let it cool off. Once it is cooled off, it really makes no difference if it's light or black.

Nice vehicle for sure. My only problem is black. I have to white vehicles and that's in PA. Get a good sun shade for the front window..as mentioned .. Makes all the difference.

I had a black Sonata with beige interior before the Sportage. I can unequivocally tell you that was the hottest car I've ever owned. Tints helped cool it down quicker, but as stated above, getting in after it sits for a while in this S.Florida heat is no joke.

Greg, nice car. I'm sure it will serve your mom well for years to come.

Nope, thanks though.

The Equinox/Terrain is a very good car. The 2.4 had issues because GM didn't have the oil change computer calibrated right. FWIW my wife had a 2012 and traded it with about 70K miles and it was flawless. It didn't use any oil either but I used 10w30 conventional and changed it every 3,000 miles.

Radiant heat, black will heat up MUCH faster and cool down much faster at night. I am not going to argue here, I have both, an all white and an all black one.
If you park in the garage or shade, it is a non issue.
