hey yall

i know this is not a big additive site, but here it goes...

once before the summer i add, moly slip during an oil change, and it feels like the car starts faster after about 500kms of use.....

i was wondering if moly can damage an engine or an exhaust , if used once or twice a year ....
like ZDP, can damage the cat converter....

the engine revs smoother, fuel usage drops by 3-4%, after use......, i notice a difference after 3-4 oil changes of not using the supplement..

thanks
nik

Do a search on molyslip in this thread and the Virgin Oil Nalaysis thread and you'll find seven other discussions relating to same.

I should be doing another UOA of this stuff soon (finally changed the oil, will send out sample soon). If there's any additive that might work it would be moly, imo. Corrosion, the cat, and price are arguments against using it, but I think with a dose of moderation it's ok to use it every 2nd OC. I'd avoid extended OCI's while using it. The sample that I'm sending in has approx 9 mo /5 K Mi on it, I think that may be pushing it for winter oil, and am curious how it will test.

That's because moly is primarily a friction reduction additve, and secondarily an antioxidant and anti-wear agent.
