Moen "widespread" bathroom sink faucet free spinning

Got some replacement handle body to replace (calcium deposit got it very stiff to turn), and the cold water control handle seems to be free spinning instead of staying with the "basin". I think I might need to buy a basin wrench to hold the bottom while I unscrew the top, which kind of basin wrench works?

I just found it easier to take the sink off the pedestal and away from the wall.

I had the same problem and replaced the cartridges only to find out that the cold water side uses a brass "adapter" that threads onto the valve and it can come loose on it's own as well.

Not overly happy with the design of this model.
