When I was helping out with a tenant's toilet issues, I was shown a problem with a Moen faucet in the kitchen. The pulldown wouldn't pull up automatically from the weight on the hose. I had a look inside, and it looked like an oversized [correction] weight was installed that didn't grab the hose snugly and usually just sank to the bottom where it would shift. It was also gray, while Moen apparently uses black weights that I think are supposed to be sized exactly to hold on to Moen hoses.

I suspect that when a handyman installed this, he just reused an older weight from the previous pulldown and didn't use the OEM Moen weight in the box. Have no idea where the original box is (probably tossed). I looked up some instructions that clearly show that the weight is supposed to grab the hose and be placed in a certain "install zone" that's closer to the spray end than the base end. They also recommend a "clear area" under the faucet, but there's a lot of stuff under many sinks. They apparently also sell a "hose guide" (really a shield) to deal with the hose and/or weight bumping into various objects under the sink. But at the very least I'm thinking maybe I can put something in there to keep this thing from sliding along the hose. Maybe electrical tape or silicone repair tape as a shim? Or just around the hose where the weight will stop?

But here's the hose guide. Looks sort of like the "Cone of Shame" that's put around a dog's head. Not sure if it's worth $23.

This higher-res photo came from Amazon, where it's apparently out of stock now.
