Model S/X Price Drop

If you have a good accountant you are getting back or paying in April an amount in the hundreds of dollars at most. If you are getting back $7500 or more you don't have a good accountant. But that has nothing to do with the annual tax liability which may or may not exceed $7500, just how well it is managed. Just pointing out an important caveat to the $7500 tax credit thinking.
You are going to owe well over $7500 even if you would have broken dead even at the end of the year. UNLESS you are planning for your EV tax credit, in which case you'll still get the full $7500.

Have you considered that some people don't care?

I'm not impressed by a one-trick pony.
I was talking to the guy who said "Motorcycle". Interestingly, the Koenigsegg ($3.5M pound supercar) barely beat the Plaid in the braking department in the video I posted.

It's still an absolutely stoopid rocket, and far cheaper than any other path to low 2 second 0-60's and 9 second quarter mile passes in a daily driver...
That is all well and good but what good is it as a daily driver? Way too many cops, speed limits, damaged roads and bad drivers.
People who haven't driven quick EV's just can't understand until they ride in/drive one. It's unlike anything else.

Keep in mind that is a MODDED 1.3L 'Busa.

Lots of bikes costing 25K and less not modified can run sub 2.6 sec 0-60 and sub 10 sec 1/4 times.

But for an $18k difference?
You’re buying a still expensive EV. Not an econobox commuter replacement. So yeah…

That’s a lot of performance for the money. Not sure if the plaid system actually decrease range and drivetrain efficincy, or if it’s just tires rolling resistance and whatnot.

That’s true, I can make the case that most folks don’t need more than 72hp 4cyl sedan for cruising down the interstate. At minimum, I know I couldn’t really use much more speed than my 135i provides, which is slow with 300/300.

But these EVs are still impractical toys in many ways. So you can get a toy with some trades made for performance versus practicality….

They're really fun to watch when someone captures video of them overwhelming the driver's capacity and crashing spectacularly though.

Really? It's literally the smoothest and easiest driving experience when you're not trying to hoon it. About the best of all worlds without making stupid noises to do so. I will say I still like cars that make stupid noises, I just don't discount EVs benefits. I totally understand that EVs aren't the most involving at 2/10s in traffic, but that's basically their benefit. They're so good at what they do that they're boring to so called car guys.

Maybe Elon will see the light, discontinue the Model X and go into a rapid R&D mode to produce a mid-sized SUV of about the form factor of the popular Mazdas, Toyotas, Hondas and Subarus. And have it sell for under $50k. He'd have an absolute winner.

Think how many SUV's are being sold each year in the mid-sized ICE category for that price range. If the new car buyer could buy a Tesla for the same price with the same kind of utility those vehicles offer, I think they would rapidly carve out a pretty big chunk of the market. The Model X is an overpriced dog. Best to rethink where Tesla wants to be in the SUV category and do it quickly.
And Tesla is the one company that can do it quickly and profitably.
