If you have to ask, don’t ask…
Found a local mobile oil change/maintenance provider near me with reasonable pricing comparatively to quick lubes places. The hours are flexible and they say they use Mobil 1 & Mobil products. Thinking about giving it a shot. Probably going to wait until I use up my last Pennzoil $25 gift card promotion at the Firestone.

Anyone use one? If so, good or bad experience?

I guess its worth a try. But what if he spills oil on your new drive? For an oil change it may not matter, but for many vehicle maintenance items having the vehicle on a lift makes things go much faster.

I think the real benefit for mobile maintenance are things not easily moved like a boat or heavy machinery.

Probably no more or less likely to spill oil than me doing it. Could always give them some I cardboard to lay down. The benefit would be I don’t have to leave the house or do it myself.

If I spill oil I have myself to blame. But I expect a true mechanic to be neat when it comes to spilling oil.

I used a mobile tire guy that used to work with my boss. He installed new tires on his Demon without issue. He came and mounted the tires, and charged me $130... My boss said he gave him a discount, so he'd give me one too. NOPE.
My tires were regular size and sidewall, nothing special.

Yeah, he F'ed up the balance on each tire.. He was there for maybe 20 mins, and I had to schedule 2 weeks ahead of time. Since this guy balanced tires on his Demon, and he goes up to 100mph frequently without issue.. I just figured he was good.

I busted my boss's nuts about that. Like, a lot.

I found a local tire shop through a wrench head I worked with also. 4 tires mounted and road force balanced, 100 $. Sometimes you just have bite the bullet and do it yourself. If that guy came to you and just changed the oil, he'd have to charge you for the oil at an inflated price to make money. I can't see how he'd make a profit unless his prices were high..

Geez. That sucks.

It’s $100 for oil change and inspection. Not getting the tires rotated cause tires are almost done. Not worth messing with it. About the same price as anywhere else. But I won’t have to leave the the couch. I could it myself cheaper but my down time is worth than that these days.

Oh yeah getting an inspection when you're chillin on the couch is nice.. So like $70 for an oil change, an you can wait in your house.. Yeah, that'd be worth it for me too... Bad knees, chitty dirt driveway, I'd pay that.. I'd inspect the hell out of it, and "randomly" check in on him when he put the oil in, but yeah.. I get it. Better than the oil change graveyards, and no rotation is warranted. GTG

BTW if I need a tire rotation I just get it done at the shop I used. Gotta wait a little bit, but they don't do the 80 point "safety check" and try and screw you. A diamond in the rough.

I'm about to drop 100$ on a road force.. gave DT 3tries and they striking out on balancing these.
might take the bill over to them as goodbye.

On your Toyo’s?
yea the new one(road hazard replacement) esp. get vibration between 67-75mph.
Its not horrible but I'm fairly sensitive to it.. so it can annoying.
I also feel like 2 are static balanced and 2 were dynamic balanced by someone on their first day.

They have never been even close to the level of balancing I received at the local hyundai dealer.
Usually though they are "good enough" for most people.

Wait, did you buy them at discount tire? And they can't balance them properly? Two things, they're retarded or the tires are out of spec. They can always use the ace in the balance hole, "your wheel is bent and it can't be balanced correctly". Thats the cowards way out. If you have them road force balanced and it becomes clear there is an issue with a tire, ask them to document everything about that tire and wheel, specifically have them notate that the wheel with that high weight value is not bent causing the variation. DT probably won't be scumbags, but you never know how far someone will go just to cover up a stupid mistake.

My BMW 325ci had the "sport suspension". It was the most responsive and well balanced car I had ever driven up to that point in my life. I could feel every tar snake on the road, its alignment was amazingly absolutely perfect from side to side. I was in awe of it. I had new Tires installed locally at a shop that had ties to a local BMW club, and they price matched TR. it turned out that with that type of suspension, I required a road force balance for it to behave correctly. Some suspensions are more sensitive than others to balance I learned.

Better be careful about that first one. I dang near got ran out of my woman dominated dental office for that.
I cannot figure out for the life of me why women fall in the toilet… We have to set down too sometimes. I’ve never fallen in. Don’t they look down first? I’m not putting by bare rump on anything haphazardly.

Used to have Commercial Account , Mobile Mechanic, he did good work at good prices

I used one when my wifes brakes were near metal to metal, and we had houseguests for the week.

By the time I bought all the parts from Oreilly, and paid the installer 100 bucks, I could have just taken it to the brake chain place and let them do it for a similar price.

There are more professional type places that do brakes exclusively mobile. The neighbor had them do brakes all the way around on a tacoma in his driveway, they have something that looks like a lift to jack the car up.

Right on. I’m thinking about trying it. If it’s basically the same price and I can stay home and work, relax, etc then why not. My schedule is crazy hectic these days. Anything I can do to make things simpler and more efficient I am all for.
