Mobile 10x30 5000 good or not

I see Walmart stores always have the Mobile 5000 regular oil not a synthetic, the price is a few dollars lower yet the claims are fantastic about the 5000 oil change intervals at 5000 miles.
is this mobile 5000 oil as good as oil to use as compared to Valvoline , Pennzoil or Castrol in a 10x30 weight ?

The new/correct name is Mobil Super, it's available in 3 flavors: 5000, High Mileage and Synthetic.

Mobil Super 5000 is as good as any conventional oil, someone used Mobil Super to 10k miles and UOA showed it was in good condition. I think it can be in service to 7-8k miles for normal driving condition in a clean engine.

It will be essentially interchangeable with any other SN/GF-5 rated 10w30, including Valvoline, Pennzoil, and Castrol.

A noticeable improvement in smoothness at higher rpm.

Super smooth. I'm seriously thinking about running it again.

Mobil Super 5000 10w30 was the only oil that my old Altima ran smoothly on. The MSHM variant quieted my Cherokee to the point you couldn't tell it was running.

With a 5,000 mile interval, any SN rated conventional oil is as good as Pennzoil conventional.

I'm going to be using that next OCI for both vehicles! Mainly for the higher moly ... interested in seeing how it affects my engines. Otherwise, I would run the cheaper Pennzoil conventional again.

Both vehicles currently have synthetic. I am probably giving a few people heart attacks by going from synthetic to conventional ...

I agree! With the price you can get Mobil Super 5000 and Quaker State Conventional at and as good as they are, I don't see why anyone who uses Conventional oil would use anything else. Exculding if one is to find a great deal on another oil.

Ah, the moly/Boron guys vs the Sodium guys

(Lubriguard vs Infinium?) MC5k had lower volatility in the past SM formulation, haven't looked or compared the new formulation - some of this high volatility issue may be the package carrier solvent and could subside after an initial 1/2 hour "boil off" at 250c. Be an interesting data point to check volatility again after that initial half hour .

Mobil Super 5000 is a great conventional oil. I would place it above Pennzoil conventional but just barely (I love the titanium in it) and is good for 5000 miles or your car's designated OCI, whichever is longer.

I know with that kind of post count AND the time factor, he should be a freaking guru! Well, he should at least have figured out how to spell 'Mobil', and that the 10 is a winter number, not an x-factor.

I saw your answer and liked the way you said it smoothed out the engine , in 2 cars or one Buick and one Cherokee , well that's what I want from an oil, so is this the right oil , its in a black 5 qt bottle plastic , and its convention ,not synthetic ? is that he one you used ? thanks give me an answer OK Rhondas

It comes in a dark gray bottle with a red lid. I got the 5 quart bottle 10w30 from Walmart for $15.xx
