The great thing about this board is that you can educate yourself on the properties of lubricants and their application. Formulas change all the time, so the “best” oil one day may not be the “best” oil a year from now.

I remember the time when M1 was the only synthetic oil available to the average consumer. I still use M1 in certain grades.

I also use Pennzoil, Castrol, Shell and Redline. This board has taught me that application, OCI and operating parameters in the engine can dictate which oil to use. More than one brand and more than one grade may work.

As an engineer, I have found that there is usually more than one solution to the problem. Brand dogma and marketing just limit your possible solutions.
