Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 PDS
BMW LL-04

Mobil 1 ESP 0w-40
BMW LL-04

This one doesn't show on the site yet, but it is a ROW product and the PDS has been on the US site for several months now.

On the first page of this thread I said check out the M1 site and the info you gave is there. Most here are not willing to check the site for themselves. However, thanks for your info.

I should have said that Mobil oils are not approved for any BMWs outside of Europe. LL-04 is strictly for BMWs in Europe. This is supposedly due to the sulfur and ethanol content of gasoline in the US / outside of Europe.

Didn't M1 also lose approvals from Dodge/Chrysler vehicles as well? I thought I saw that floating around the internet a few weeks back.

Nope, BMW LL-04 are also for the U.S. and Canada but for diesel engines.
You can get M1 5W30 ESP with LL-04 (I have stocked up that oil) and bunch of other ils that meet that spec. including Valvoline 5W40 MST that I currently have in engine.

That's not really a "nope" as much as it's a note that it's okay for diesel and not gasoline models. Gasoline and diesel BMWs are two totally different animals.

I'd probably use either, no matter what the certs said, at least outside of warranty. I haven't checked the shelves lately to see which version is available here. If they want in never to run out, Walmart and CT can just keep it at full price.

OK, I misunderstood your post.
Well, the U.S. is moving to ultra low sulfur gasoline on 01/01/2017.
We will see whether car companies will switch to Lower SAPS oils due to ethanol, but I do not see ethanol as issue as sulfur.
