Mobil is advertising their new Super HM oil as an oil that aides in slowing consumption however Mobil HM is thinner then most other HM oils. I was under the impression that the thickness of the HM oils is what caused a slowing in consumption. Is there perhaps a certain additive that slows it down also which allows Super HM to have both a low viscosity and anti-consumption properties?

Super HM supposedly is a great cleaning oil. It probably also includes a nice dose of seal swellers. Cleaning out dirty ring-packs and swelling old seals would certainly help curtail oil consumption.

As far as the Mobil 1 HM oils, they previously stated on their site the 10w-30/40 oils should be used to slow oil consumption and the not the 5w-30. It looks like the site is now changing.
