Actually I tried that same link for weeks, but the website was apparently "down". Good to see my pessimism of the corporate world is at least somewhat unfounded in this case.

The 10W30 doesn't have any ACEA approval simply because almost nobody uses this grade in europe.
The 15W40 has only the E5 approval which is strictly for diesels .

Did they quote you a price??? The most recent price I saw for this type of bulk purchase was around $275/55 gal for Pennzoil 10w30.

This stuff would be a great stock to use for the blending crowd. 4 quarts this with one quart 15w40 for the summer ...1 quart 5w-20 for the winter ....2/3 3/2 ..4/1 1/4...

Gosh!! the posibilites are endless......

My point is that althought the 15W40 according to the API can be used in gas and diesel engines, according to ACEA is suitable only for heavy duty diesels and it is confusing.
The mobil delvac 5W40 made and sold in europe it is also rated by ACEA for diesel use only even though it carries the API SJ approval.
As for the 10W30 i mentioned it as an example to show that the obvious and indisputable it's not so obvious sometimes.

Is it more the case they didn't even consider it for use in passenger cars and light duty diesels and thus it has been neither disapproved or approved for such use?
