Mobil Clean 7500, a new synthetic blend motor oil, provides outstanding protection for today’s longer service intervals — with 18 percent more cleaning agents than even Mobil Clean 5000 to protect critical engine parts for up to 7,500 miles under typical driving conditions. Price at Wallyworld is $2.69 or pretty close.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance formulas are designed specifically for today's longer service intervals and are guaranteed to protect for up to 15,000 miles or one year.

Mobil 1 Extended Performance (15000) has a unique formulation with boosted level of protection and performance. These formulations with the Advanced SuperSyn System contain 50 percent more SuperSyn, 36 percent more anti-wear additives, and 37 percent more cleaning agents than the current Mobil 1. Don't remember the price.

So 5000 is dino, 7500 synthetic blend, 15000 full synthetic.

All are API Certified, as is the Mobil One Truck& SUV 5w-40 for Diesels. Now, if only they would package it in gallon containers and offer at a discount. Quart at Wallyword is $4.77.
 
Mobil 7500 is a great price. I have been running dino to 5000 in my wifes 02' Explorer but am thinking of changing to the Mobil 7500 and changing at 7500. It would be cheaper and would be using a better oil. Win-Win in my book.

Most likely keep using Pennzoil in my truck and changing at 3mo/3k due to a lot of short trips in town. My wife drives more hwy miles.
 
From VOAs we know that 5000 and EP have very different additive chemistries. They may be compatible but recommending that home made mix over the same base oils in a designed blending with a higher pao content just seems silly.

Those viscosities at 100C will have nothing to do with the piston slap which occurrs at cold conditions, I don't believe.

I agree with you, Mobil 7500 sounds like a great deal, but where does this information come from? I haven't read anything like this on the Mobil website?
 
Mobil 7500 seems to be very popular. I'm struck that this seems to be very close to Schaeffer's #703 blend. Wonder which is better? I use #703 in my Suburban and am down to 7 qts. Order another 8 cases for the discount or use Mobil 7500? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

If you've been happy with the Schaeffer's #703 Blend and don't mind ordering 8 cases at a time I'd stick with what's been proven. While the Mobil 7500 looks good on paper we've not seen how it performs in the "real world". The Schaeffer's can easily do over 7,500 mile OCI's and still have useful life left. How will the Mobil 7500 be by the time it reaches 7,500 miles

. Even though Schaeffer's is a Group II+ and PAO it must have a very good additive package to be on par with Mobil 1.
