Mobil 1 vs the rest

i don't believe in any x-w-20 oils film is too thin for protection + only for very minor xtra mpg's. today almost all oils labeled "synthetic" in usa are highly refined mineral oil, not the man made in a lab of years ago. mobil I USED to be all PAO group IV oil, today its used sparingly, but the EP Mobil I reportedly still uses it. i am liking the new GTL Pennzoil Platinum series 10-30 being my choice with very low Noack. there's still the real deal Redline + Amsoil Group IV + V oils for severe usage. Amsoil 20-50 in my oil killing 106 cu in Victory Hammer, air-oil cooled engine with shared gearbox-engine oil. Amsoil's signature series car + light truck oils for yearly or 25,000 is my choice, a fresh Wix filter @ 6 months. Pennzoil Platinum 10-30 in other family members vehicles that i change their oil, retired with spare time i enjoy mechanic work in my heated garage, makes the Pa winter time pass more easily

+1

This^^^^

I recently switched my 2 vehicles to synpower from pp. In the hemi. Its about the same as far as engine noise. The synpower makes it run way smooth tho. In the dart, I can't really tell a difference. Plan to do a uoa at 5k on each and then go from there. Reason I switched was because valvo is an American company and I like that.

You see the valvoline commercial saying it protects engines better than mobil. And a couple years ago valvoline Said mobil 1 didn't even meet quality standards. So my question is for 10,000 miles what's the best over the shelf option? What's the benefits of synpower,pp, castrol edge over mobil? Are there any at all? Which oil is truly the best quality and can handle a longer drain the best

M1 EP 0w-20 (for your Focus) is majority PAO and probably the best bargain on a majority PAO lubricant out there. I'd use it in a heartbeat if it was available here.

I'd run M1 0w-40 in the Dodge.

This stuff is 5-9 dollars cheaper than all the other synthetics except quaker state I believe it's only 3 dollars cheaper that qs synthetic. So it seems like a decent deal but how good is it ? Who makes it? Anyone got any info in it? Thanks everyone.

It's decent and will do the job fine but if you're asking to clean your Vibe engine then I would suggest PP or M1 (spend a few bucks more)

ST synthetic made by WPP, probably close if not the same as all the other house brands they make and Mag 1 which WPP sells under their own name.

What viscosity are you using? The 5w30 says it meets the old 4718M standards (what GM called for in pre-dexos Cadillacs and Corvettes).

I don't use it, but from years on this board I understand it's a perfectly good oil. Who makes it is a regional thing, in most areas it's WPP, but in some areas it will be other companies (SOPUS?). Regardless of which one you get, they're perfectly fine. If you're worried, pay a couple bucks more and get QSUD. Or get M1 and use the rebate currently available on it. But you shouldn't be worried about using ST, it has repeatedly shown itself to be a perfectly good serviceable oil.

VOA's and UOA's look good on it, I'd never use it because it's only available from Wally World. But otherwise it looks like a solid group 3 oil.

BTW-DO NOT use Supertech oil filters, unlike their oil the filters are complete E-Core garbage.

SuperTech filters were phased out a couple years ago IIRC. The oil is just fine though, I have used it a bit and a lot of SuperTech ATF+4 and full syn gear oil, never an issue.

If you have a Tractor Supply Company in your area you can buy Supertech Synthetic there.

it is in a Grey bottle labeled "Traveller Full Synthetic"

I'm strongly considering trying the Supertech synthetic for my expedition. I've tried just about everything else, so why not?

I've used the supertech dyno in my 83 chevy plow truck and my Massey Harris tractor and have been very happy with it.

FWIW, it is made for Walmart by Warren or ExxonMobil (and perhaps others) depending on the store.
