Yeah. At least QS has only a few levels of oil...

This is what you want $20.94 for 5 qts

Some members have found this which meets your spec/requirements but I've never seen it in 5 qt jugs for $16.97

Both protect as well as anything else.

So with his experience I switched over to 0-20.As I have said many times, I have been doing 10K OCIs for 34 years now and I will continue to do so regardless of witch M1 oil I use. I have a friend doing 15-20K on reg M1 5-30 on his 99 Silverado and has 300K+ on the engine and it still runs fine. However that's not for me.

0w oil is doing nothing for you. Millions of Fords run just fine with 5w-20/30 bulk and 7.5k+ OCIs and make high mileage with ease.

Using an oil that is a easy 30-40% more in cost for only 2-2.5k longer OCI is not that impressive.

So things like better additives and Fuel injection mean nothing to you?

15-20k OCIs on Reg Mobil 1 and his engine is fine @ 300k and that's "not for you"?

Okay....

Just wanted to know....

PP is actually cheaper right now than the QSUD. But since it does not meet the Dexos spec for him I'd use the QS product (or Pennzoil blend if it was available for $17 / 5qt jug)

Just because something cost more does not mean its better or will do any better in your app.

All it means is you paid more...

Bill.
Sorry, but you have lost me. The only thing I can say to you is that I know what works very well for me, and I really don't understand where you are coming from with your comments. Something about 30-40%, 2-2.5K longer, and fuel injection and your not impressed, and so forth.

Never mind. Wasting my time. Your post above proves that to a tee.

Take care, Bill

Check out the Auto Zone promotions for 5 quarts of M1 EP and an M1 filter. About $35-$40. Mobil also has coupon promotions from time to time. Check out their website. EP is a pretty good synthetic. Look at the Amsoil site tests in comparison to other oils.

No hard feelings, but at times I just don't understand your comments. However I do on other occasions.

Just checked the list and yep its there.

Walmart has $5 instant off which takes the price of 5 qts to under $20.

PS: I know the photo is of 5w-20 but the $5 off is on all the jugs of PP no matter the weight.

PP is dexos certified.

I don't think there is honestly much of a difference between each oil marketer's mid/top tier synthetic. They all try to differentiate themselves, but overall the quality is extremely negligible at this point. (Among synthetics meeting the same specs) It's really about which brand you prefer.

I think it's about as likely for tig1 to change from 10000 mile intervals strictly on M1 as it is for you to switch to PU and run it for 3000 miles, Bill.

Sometimes, being stubborn is good, and I think in both your cases (yes, I'm calling you guys stubborn; I am too) it's a good thing. He suitably and sensibly extends synthetic OCIs, and you do the same with conventional ones.

I agree that tig1 could probably go 15k with the M1 EP. After all, he's been going 10k OCIs forever and a day, and the oil and engines have improved. But, he does what works. There are plenty of people dumping M1 and even M1 EP after 3000 miles.
