I have a 2013 GMC Sierra with a 5.3. Currently using Mobil 1 5w30 . Anyone do a used oil analysis on both Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance? Just curious the difference in results . Thank you in advance for your input.

A used oil analysis won't tell you much.

I have a few used oil analysis of Mobil 1 Extended Performance and Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20. You can search for them. I found that AFE appeared to be a longer drain oil than EP, but that was in my application.

What OCI are you using and do you want to increase it?

The used oil analysis are similar. The difference appears to be in the base stock blend, with the EP having more oxidation resistance.

I agree with SilverFusion on this. Regular Mobil 1 would be good to go for you. It is Dexos approved and HTO-06 as well.

What? The EP has a different dispersant and detergent add pack. It is a lot better than the standard M1. Provides an increase in ring seal when compared with regular M1.

You wouldn't see ANY benefit, of ANY significance, with synthetics if you change by the OLM -except a lighter wallet.

Run any cheap oil that meets DEXOS if you go by the OLM.

I was pretty excited to try Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 after a few runs of the "vanilla" version when I read on the Russian Oil Club website that the former had a slightly lower NOACK loss and was a little less viscous at extremely low temps.
However, I was really surprised to find myself hearing some slight rattles that I had never noticed before and that seemed to go away when I used something other than EP at the next change. They weren't super loud and generally seemed to be not long after startup at fairly moderate temperatures, but they did catch my ear and irritate me. Maybe there could have been something wrong with the particular Tokyo Roki filter I used from my stash for that change, and I do also notice that the viscosity of the EP product is ever so slightly lower at 40C than the standard 5W30. The EP also has a slightly lower HTHS, but this wasn't a full operating temp thing.
It was probably just some funky thing that had nothing to do with the EP, but I haven't used it since.

How do you know that? Apparently GM doesn't know the difference.
