I'm interested in using a Mobil 1 filter for my next oil change. When I look up the number if says M1-105 or MO193. The M1-105 looks to be quite a bit smaller than the filter from the dealer. MO193 I can't find (maybe it's larger?).

At any rate, is the smaller size an issue? Does it mean the engine will take a tad less oil?

3.0 Mitsubishi Montero

What year is the Montero? The MO193 is only available at selected Mobil Instant Oil Change places in your particular area. I would cross-reference and see if the Mobil M1-104 fits your application. That particular filter is a little bigger and the internals are much better.

Thanks. It's a 1989 Montero. When I look it up only the M1-015 and MO193 come up. Is the M1-104 better than the 105? How can I tell if it fits?

Also the 105 seems small, issue?

But the M1 filter is rated for 15K miles. Frankly I was a bit nervous about the 103 on a V8 Tundra (6.5qts) and searched the Tundra Forums; I will be moving to the gargantuan M-301 next time round.

I have seen engines run Fram Orange Cans for 30K KM's and the engine survived just fine so you should be fine with a high quality filter, good oil and a well maintained engine to go that long.

I also go 20K KM's on my Amsoil EAO's and they are very small filters for my application.
