Mobil 1, MPG increase?

Over 20k miles of records on my truck there was less than .1mpg difference between M1 and Quaker State 5w30 @ 10k miles each.

No, when you figure it up properly over time you will find no difference if they are the same weight.

I know when I drive in the rain.
I drive 5mph(about) slower usually and I still get 3-5mpg less(defroster-a/c on)
I never noticed that in my focus but in the new car the mpg meter is usually within 1mpg(over 350mi/fillup) so i trust it somewhat.

I've actually noticed on cooler ambient temps highway cruising, MPG is worse than a warm one. IMO the denser air = more wind resistance. Cooler air does not mean the engine will be more efficient (ie better BSFC) for the same load. Yes it might make more power...

During recent long distance driving, I was unable to duplicate the 30 MPG, so it must have been a fluke.

Oil consumption with the Mobil 1 is greater than with PP, so I'll probably switch back to PP on my next OCI unless I find a sale that makes the Mobil 1 a better value.
