bought an oversize mobil 1 filter for my tacoma. would this have any negative impact on my oil pressure, or would this be a concern for my warranty? plan on running either this filter, a fram XG 3600, or a Puro P1 20195 and some pennzoil platinum 5W30 for 5k oci's while the truck is under warranty.

It could be a concern for your warranty. If there is any engine related issue, and they see you were using a filter not specifically specified for your vehicle, they could home in on that as a cause, even if it didn't have any connection to the problem.

Using the right bigger filter will not give you any problems ... I'm just saying IF there is a problem, you don't want to have the "wrong" filter on the truck. BTW - I've been using a PL20195 on my '05 Tacoma for awhile now.

I most likely won't do any harm. I've used a Motorcraft FL400s that's better than the Fram and Puro you mentioned. But Toyota can certainly turn that against you if you have a powertrain problem. They will twist the facts in their favor so they don't have to pay for a new engine.

I've just decided that if I have to take my car in for any reason, I'll just put on an OEM filter. I've got too many freebies to throw them out and I'm sure that they are fine. It's up to you.

mobil 1 Mobil 1-209

I bought one of these filters Friday. I like metal tube Champian filters. It is much heavier(and bigger) than Supertech 3600 filter.

In my application filter mounting configuration is horizontal so I may return the Mobil 1.

Does anyone here run a Mobil 1 filter that's mounted horizontally?

If it has an ADBV (which I'm sure it does), then the orientation of the filter on the vehicle will not matter.

The filter is pretty heavy. Will the added weight be risky?

No ... nothing to worry about. There are millions of oil filters mounted horizontally.

Horizonal on my PT with no problems whatsoever. I often run the M1-209 or the K&N,Royal Purple equivilent. I am looking for a mounting place under the hood and its tough to find on a PT GT. Got a relocation kit from Summit Racing that retails for $60, for $19, looks like excellent quality.
