This filter came off of a 2017 VW Jetta with a 1.4L turbo direct injected gasoline engine. 10k miles on the filter, 140k on the engine.
Out: Mobil 1 M1-205A and Total Quartz Euro 5W-40
In: OG Fram Ultra XG3600 and Total Quartz Euro 5W-40
This filter was made in Fayetteville, NC on Dec 3, 2020 by Purolator. This particular filter was sent to me by @53' Stude , thank you Adam.
Everything looks good, thick can, pretty even pleats, not too wide of a gap at the seam, flexible silicone ADBV, except one little issue. One end of the pleat at the wider seam has began to tear. It wasn't all the way torn when I cut it open, but it tore all the way with little finger pressure. Such a shame, since this feels like a nice, good quality filter. Very heavy compared to the Fram Ultra that I but back on.
As for this engine, I am amazed every time I cut a filter that came off of it. I don't remember ever seeing anything in the pleats, no metal, no carbon, nothing, especially since it is a DI engine. I changed the oil and filters on this car since it was new, 1st change at 5k, 2nd at 10k, and every 10k after that with one of the euro 5W-40 oils from Pennzoil, Quaker State, Total or Castrol, depending on what I had on hand at the time. Hope it soldiers on for many more miles.
