This filter came off of a 2017 VW Jetta with a 1.4L turbo direct injected gasoline engine. 10k miles on the filter, 140k on the engine.

Out: Mobil 1 M1-205A and Total Quartz Euro 5W-40
In: OG Fram Ultra XG3600 and Total Quartz Euro 5W-40

This filter was made in Fayetteville, NC on Dec 3, 2020 by Purolator. This particular filter was sent to me by @53' Stude , thank you Adam.
Everything looks good, thick can, pretty even pleats, not too wide of a gap at the seam, flexible silicone ADBV, except one little issue. One end of the pleat at the wider seam has began to tear. It wasn't all the way torn when I cut it open, but it tore all the way with little finger pressure. Such a shame, since this feels like a nice, good quality filter. Very heavy compared to the Fram Ultra that I but back on.

As for this engine, I am amazed every time I cut a filter that came off of it. I don't remember ever seeing anything in the pleats, no metal, no carbon, nothing, especially since it is a DI engine. I changed the oil and filters on this car since it was new, 1st change at 5k, 2nd at 10k, and every 10k after that with one of the euro 5W-40 oils from Pennzoil, Quaker State, Total or Castrol, depending on what I had on hand at the time. Hope it soldiers on for many more miles.

Nice write up and great pics. I had a 1.4 in my Jetta and really liked it. More power than you’d expect and amazing mpg.

Great photos. Thanks for sharing it all, I used the Mobil1 "extended service" filters like that one for years on the wife's 2002 Accord she kept for 18 years. I also used them on the current 2009 Accord that I been driving since it is NOT a Direct Injection engine. I use the Mobil1 filter and Amsoil 5w20 in that car and usually do one to maybe two oil changes a year since we do not put a lot of high miles on it. I always thought well of those Mobil1 filters.
There was some chatter on internet a while back with some complaining they were not worth the cost. I think that is debatable.

Looks to be a M+H Tearolator build. These filters aren’t cheap, I would really expect to see a metal crimp seam. At least it has evenly spaced pleats and a silicone ADBV. 10/10 - would never use again 😂.

That small wave imprint is always indicative of thin cellulose media they try to stiffen - exactly what the terrible Puro’s had …
