Gentlemen, I've been thinking hard about going to an extended OCI on my F-150 using Mobil 1 5w20. The 4.2 V-6 has 75,000 miles on it now. Have been using Motorcraft oil and filters with a change out at 5,000 miles. Would a 10,000 mile OCI with a NAPA gold/Carquest premium/Mobil 1 filter be excessive? It is a very nice truck and I have been very strict with proper maintenance thus far. I drive 20 miles 1 way to work daily and intend to drive it to 200,000 miles. Incidentally, my last tank of gas netted me 21.06 mpg. I also have Mobil 1 fluids in the M5OD transmission, and 75W-140 gear oil in the rear differential. My main reason for doing this is simply because it just isn't as enjoyable as it used to be to crawl under it for an oil change. I welcome your comments.

Only a used oil analysis will tell you for sure, but I would expect Mobil 1 5W20 to be fine in that application for 10K miles.

I've been going 8K miles on Mobil 1 5W20 with pretty hard use and my truck's engine seems to be doing great. I have never had a used oil analysis done though.

Stick to what you've been doing, your doing everything good, no need to pay more for Every oil change. If you do go with M1 and 10k oci's you might want to go with a M1 Bosch or K&N Filter, the wix/ Napa gold is more. of a 5-6k filter.

My 1994 290+k miles LS400 had OCI's as follow: 6-7k/6mo with dino and 1 oil filter per year (reuse oil filter), 12-14k/12mo with syn and 1 oil filter per year. Oil filters: Motorcraft FL400s, Fram Extraguard, Purolator ...

Any oil filter can hold 7-8 grams of debris, if your engine generates more than 8 grams of junks in 10-12k miles then it is dying, no matter what filter and for how long it will not save your engine.

Oil filters are cheap so why risk it. Change the thing and rest easy

I heard that, I'm coming up on a 9+K mi 1yr change on one of mine using Mobil 1 Extended Performance and another that has 2yr on it but only 2500 mi...

Put some Mobil 1 0W-40 in my 01 F150 a few weeks back and like it so far... I have a high mileage 5.4 in my truck though. Planning to take it to at least 10k miles which should take awhile no more than we drive the truck.
