Yep, It's true. My local Walmart has moved all of the Fram HM, and Extra Guards to the closeout shelf, and replaced those lines with Mobil 1 filters. At 9.99, it's a good move on there part, and attractive for those that think the Mobil 1 filter is the one for them. Still the complete line of OCOD's, and the Supertechs, but now 3 distinct marketing lines, and probably easier for them to inventory and stock. WooHoo!

That price is disappointing, would have thought they'd be more deeply discounted down to may be $6.99 or $7.99. What's the concensus on Mobil 1 Filters? High efficiency but low flow like PureOne?
Do you think, they will also be discontinuing the extend guard fram filters?

Its great that Walmart is carrying them; I need the M1-211 and it wasnt in the one store I checked. Their price is over $2.00 less than Kragen.
I don't think so...the Super Wal-Mart in Raynham MA carries Mobil 1 filters now, although the regular WM nearer me does not...I noticed that store carries Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 in 5-quart jugs now, too. WOOT!
The boxes were all sealed with shrink-wrap. I didn't look that closely, as I don't use them.

W-M customers as a whole won't pay $9.99 for a Mobil 1 oil filter, when a $3.99 Fram, or an even less expensive Motorcraft is available. I predict these filters will be on the closeut shelf within a few months.
If I used Mobil still, I'd take a look if they were not $9.99
They are priced at $10.99 up here. Still plenty of Frams and Mopar filters on the shelf.
Disagree - Walmart customers are the same demographically as all the mass auto parts stores so their preferences are probably the same. Walmart has been stocking and apparently selling Mobil 1 oil for some time even though it costs more than Supertech. The parking lots of the stores are filled with $40k+ vehicles so I'd say the average customer is willing to spend more if they perceive the value.
Walmart has offered the $10 Fram oil filter for quite some time now. It would be great to see the M1's stocked. WalMart will keep what sells, get rid of the rest - they announced an effort to "maximize" shelf space last year.
I wonder how many poeple will put the Mobil 1 filter in the supertech box and take it to the counter... And how many people will pay for an Mobil 1 and discover an ST in the box???
I've opened fram filter boxes with supertechs in them before. Funny too they were probally getting a better deal getting the supertech :lol:
I think Mobil 1 filters will do good. They (filters) were crazy before, there were like 6 different lines to differentiate from, and only 3 brands. And Walmart is horrible at keeping shelfs tidy.
