Thanks Brian. If Pep Boys did have 5w40, I would have gotten some. The Dana 35 currently has Royal Purple in there. Good stuff! At the time I put it in there, 75w90 was what was recommended. I didn't know I had towing package at the time so I didn't figure I'd need the 75w140 but I don't tow, yet. The Towing will be 300 miles in August, after the roadtrip, when I move into my apartment here in Baton Rouge. It's mostly level driving. Our 94 ZJ had a 35 in the rear and didn't even get synthetic and it went 140K miles with no problems.quote:

If your Jeep has a Dana 35c rear axle I would be more concerned about the lube in it than what goes in your engine, the 35c is a known weak point and 75w-140 synthetic is now recommended in "severe duty" which includes continuous high speed driving.
