Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 vs Mobil 1 Advanced Clean 5w30

So my local shop said Mobil 1 Extended Performance works just as good as the Mobil 1 Advanced Clean. What about Valvoline Restore and Protect? I didn’t notice much difference than Mobil 1 5w30

My thought is that you and the "local shop" have something in common; a willingness to put the cart before the horse ...

How about we start at the beginning:
- What is the application?
- What are you trying to accomplish?
- What are the parameters you're using to judge each product by?
- How are you going to measure those parameters?
- What is the established baseline?
- How do you define success/failure?

I run Mobil 1 AC for the duration of my OLM - so ~7000 miles …
I’m doing nothing to measure its capabilities - but it’s dexos approved and in a GM engine for way under “claimed” extended mileage. I know from the SDS it contains good base stock.
Got several jugs at $25. Happy motoring

Or at least used to be Dexos approved and contained good base stock. Unknown if that will change in the near future. It will probably still be very good oil but might lose some of that. If they get it re-certified that could change a month after that again.

I bought mine two months ago - year supply - it is dexos …
BTW:
those who have zero approvals could get away with more right now
Just ordered a jug - we will see if still dexos …

The only fair comparison should be between M1 EP and M1 AP. Then the question would be which is better if both are DEXOS approved with similar max mileage of 25,000 mile and 20,000 mile rating respectively ?
