Mobil has a MSDS for Mobil 1 5w-50 EP. Mobil's tech said that they are bringing back the 15w-50 to the regular Mobil 1 lineup. So when Joe said the 15w-50 EP was Group III and reformulated, this is what he might have been referring too.
Who cares what these tech have to say? The techs have been either unaware or going along with the party-line through this whole Group III fiasco.
Mickey_Mouse himself freely admits EOM uses Group III in several of their formulations traditonally claimed to be mostly PAO.
EOM has a long way to go to earn back any credibility with me. And they should start by putting a gag on Mickey_Mouse...a guy that doesn't care whether he ruins someone's career when all he did was tell the truth, while he himself didn't get the facts first.
I'm not cozying up to anyone. How do you figure that? None of these oil companies are going to reveal any formulation secrets to anyone.
I know many of you are frustrated with XOM. The point was they are now coming out with a Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w-50 and making the 15w-50 regular M1. That much a tech would know. I'm not going to lose sleep over XOM's marketing, that is for sure.
I always thought that extreme range multigrades were a bad thing. Since VI improvers are not "lubricants", having large % of them in formulation is not desired. What greatness would a 5W/50 EP bring to the party?
Mobil has been selling the 5w-50 grade in Europe and other parts of the world for ages. It was actually one of the most popular grades there, AFAIK. How close it is to this new EP 5w-50? Well, we'd have to compare specs I guess...
You started about 5 posts on EOM products this past week. Why not move on to other products? Let's use our energies to find out about them, and intellectually boycott EOM products until they get some scruples.

Then why do you keep posting supposed inside information on M1 formulations? This supposed inside information has been shown to be false. And it's like pulling teeth to get them to admit it even when we have good evidence to the contrary.
