Good rainy afternoon bitogers. Is the current Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 Dexos 1 gen 2 approved? Co worker asked me about this and i said i believe it is. Thank you all in advance for help and information

For some reason, it took forever for Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w30 jugs with the d1G2 label to show up at WMs around here.
Seems like that product moves OK, so I'm not sure of the reason for the delay...it showed up on the d1G2 online list that I guess is now obsolete very early on.
I have some waiting in the garage for my next change, was going to be early December by my normal plan but I have been driving a lot less now that my daughter took her car to school...she drives herself home for visits and would rather be driving around with her friends on weekends than having us visit her at school and take her places. First try for this oil, but I'm not too excited about the idea of changing my oil in January the way things are looking right now...

Sometimes it makes life more pleasant if you cut the OCI short to be able to change the oil/filter while the weather is more conducive to work in. I'm too old to work outdoors on a vehicle in the cold anymore. I did way too much of that in my earlier years
. I just changed my oil and a transmission D&F for our 2017 Explorer while the temps were more favorable for laying on the ground outdoors. Yes it was only about 5,000 miles on the oil but otherwise I'd have to pay to have have it done later on in the winter. The extra 2,000 miles I'd normally go to do a 7,000 mi OCI would take me right into January/February with snow on the ground. I have a stash of Mobil 1 5w30 that's cost me $11/5 quart jug after rebates so it's less expensive cutting the OCI short than paying to have the oil changed. The same applies if I'm about to take an extended mileage vacation where it would require an oil change during the vacation, I'll change it sooner in my driveway and save aggravation and money while on vacation, but that's me

It's not just you! I do the same. I have about 5,000 on a M1 fill in the Explorer. I'm going to watch the upcoming weather and pick a day to change out. That will at least get me to a nice day in March or April.

But we're still called heathens by the BITOG members because we don't want to freeze our bones and get sick in the winter to get that extra ~2,000 miles on the OCI
. My health is worth more and it makes financial sense also if I can't do the OCI in the winter myself.
