I currently have Mobil 1 EP Extended Performance 5w-30 in my Land Cruiser with 15k mile oil change intervals.

If I switch to GC, can I still keep the 15k mile OCI?

BTW, I also have a gallon of LC20 that I can use to help extended the GC's OCI if needed.

QP is right. Only a UOA will tell you. Not a fan of adding additives to oils.

I am in So California, all I could find is a lame looking bottles of 0w-30 Syntec, made in USA

I would love to do a UOA but by the time I pay for it, I could have a OCI of 10k instead of 15k and break even in terms of $$ spent. I am sad to say that I am not that top 1% tier of oil enthusiasts that do UOA's.

I would like to see the UOA on that 15K run.

Are you sure your area Auto Zones still have GC??

15k mile OCIs without doing UOAs with any oil is not recommendable if maximizing engine life is a goal. If you exceed the oil's ability to last, the engine will keep running apparently fine but it will get more and more deposits with each OCI. Eventually, it starts to take it's toll on the engine in various ways.

M1 EP and GC in my opinion have similar long drain ability based on UOA data. If you really want to do 15k mile OCIs, in my opinion one of the best long drain oils is M1 0W-40. It's formulated differently from other Mobil 1 oils.

Sure, but you only need to do the UOA once. Once you establish that 15k is safe, then you just continue with this OCI.

Wow, that changes things. As long as it's in good tune and doesn't see severe service (including dirt ingestion), 15k miles is somewhat reasonable with M1 0W-40, GC, or M1 EP 5W-30 (in order of my preference in this case). Keep an eye on the cleanliness of engine parts you can maybe see through the oil fill hole as you rack up the miles. That's the poor man's test that's invaluable.

u mean M1 0W-40 base oil is different from other M1 base oil ??

Does M1 0W-40 contain more Grp IV proportion in its base?

The basestock blends are probably different in 0W-40 than some other M1 Supersyn oils but the definite additive package difference is what I was referring to. Considerably higher TBN, considerably more boron additive, more calcium additive, and more ZDDP additive. It meets several long drain OEM specs. It has has higher TBN than the M1 EP oils.
