Mobil 1 ATF and Chrysler ATF+4...

They will tell you (on the record) that they have no plans to market ATF+4 under the Exxon or Mobil brand names.

Are we sure that this doesn't mean "with the +4 approval". That is, do we know that they aren't marketing +4 fluid minus the +4 approval.

They told me that their intention is to cover Chrysler applications with Mobil 1 ATF and Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF, since their internal testing shows that both of these fluids meet the performance requirements for ATF+4.

Thanks, Gary!

On their website, they only say it's "approved for newer Chrysler transmissions", but didn't specifically state ATF+4...

You sure about that? I only see "recommended for Chrysler automatic transmissions".

Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF

For comparison, the new Valvoline ATF+4 says on the bottle "Valvoline ATF+4 is a Chrysler ATF+4 approved product".

I haven't seen anything to indicate that M1 Synthetic ATF is Chrysler ATF+4 approved. It might be great fluid and work well in ATF+4 applications. So might Canola oil. Either will put you at jeopardy of invalidating the Chrysler warranty if that's a concern.

And you won't because it's not. Mobil is upfront about saying that they recommend it for Chrysler applications, but it is NOT a Chrysler approved fluid.

Bingo...and G-ManII and Gary Allan and keith all speak words of wisdom....Many lube manufactures use these terms of endearment phyco babble.

So if Mobil recomends it for use in Chrysler applications or Redline recomends it, or Amsoil recomends it....it works, but just does not have the exact recipe.

If you need exact ATF+4 specs...then you need a licensed Chrysler lube manufactured product.

I like making pancakes by the pour and mix method...my wife uses specific measurements and additives...in the end...if you ate one pancake of mine and then tried hers....both would do the job fine.
