Awhile back I bought a couple jugs of Mobil 1 5w-20 that was on sale for $19 at walmarts. I have used this stuff before and it has always had the MS-6395 on the back of the jug. Just noticed these do not have that spec. From reading I see Mobil 1 dropped the ms-6395 completely. What do you guys think. Use it knowing it isn't spec'ed for my truck or leave it on the shelf? Going in a 09 Dodge hemi, still under factory power train warranty.

Since you are under warranty I wouldn't use the Mobil 1 since it doesn't officially list the MS6395 spec. It is unfortunate that Mobil 1 does not list the spec because it is really nothing special. Most if not all of the name brand conventional oils meet the spec so this is clearly going to be something Mobil 1 would meet or exceed but could be a loophole that Chrysler could use to get out of a warranty claim. I would just save those jugs for after your warranty is up or use them in another vehicle. I am running Mobil 1 5w20 in my van right now but it is long out of warranty (101k miles).
MS-6395 is not on the Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W20 PDS anymore.
You do not have to use an oil that is "certified" to the mfg's oil spec( in this case MS6395 ). Just that it meets or exceeds the spec. The issue is Chrysler requires a 2 year test period now for an oil to become certified to that spec. It is ridiculous frankly.
I would use the Mobil 1 5W20 and not sweat it personally and I am one of the biggest proponents of following warranty requirements to the T you will ever come across. I would bet dollars to donuts any Mobil 1 product will easily meet or exceed any performance requirement of MS6395. Especially the synthetic varieties as MS6395 is a spec really based on conventional oil. It is that 2 year test period that is the issue.
I would like to see oil companies tell Chrysler to go pound sand like so many did on the whole GM Dexos thing. These car mfg's are getting out of hand with their oil spec's and what is involved.

Here is a link answering your question. I actually called Mobil tech recently about this, and they pretty much gave me the same answer as this link. Bottom line: Mobil 1 oils will more than meet the 6395 spec. However Mobil 1 is not going to jump through all the hoops to certify this oil. It's like a two year process as indicated in the link. This oil certification sillyness is getting way out of hand with every engine builder requireing their own spec. After all, pistons and cams all go up and down and round and round in all engines.
