Mobil 1 Advanced Clean formulation change

They are not the same at all. You can tell just by smelling them (important note, you can't discern anything meaningful about the formulas from smell alone other than they are different)
Advanced clean smells really mild and EP is a punch in the face strongest oil ive ever smelled, puts redline to shame (i am insane)

Give Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W-40 a whiff. I had a batch delivered that leaked all over. It stinks and is the only oil that burned my fingers from handling the oil soaked box. Not sure what's in it but it ain't good for skin lol. No oil has ever given me a chemical burn type feeling until this.

I wouldn't worry about it. Either one will be inferior to Valvoline Restore and Protect. So if you're not running that, dealer's choice.

I'm not sure but I think the Valvoline Restore and Protect formulation was changed too. The Zinc and Phosphorous show respectively 720 ppm and 650 ppm. And I think before they were like 900 and 800. Actually, I'm sure they were higher or at least the same as Advanced Protection.

Motor oil, gasoline, and car cleaners and solvents are hydrocarbons also include some aromatic hydrocarbons too.
So, it's good to nuff them.

I haven't smelled the GF-7 version either.

Its honestly wild lol. I was bamboozled. Its similar but stronger than the c40-gt but i wonder if its from an antioxidant thats in both oils maybe

Yup, their tech support confirmed its not Dexos.
There are still bottles with Dexos logo, must be old stash

We dont know, but may suggest supply chain issues and raising costs making them switch to cheaper alternatives not meeting Dexos spec,
they might also not want to pay for Dexos to re-certify new formulation.

Not sure exactly, but it used to contain a ton of PAO, and now it's just a dusting. Even synthetic blends can pass Dexos, so I don't really care much about it, and loss of PAO obviously isn't enough to lose Dexos.

The jug I just got for the hell of it was made in February, so I suppose I have the first formulation. I think with the panic buying we may be seeing the newer production oils sooner than usual.

Perhaps they (Mobil) just did not continue to pay for the Dexos license,as it is only needed for use under the warranty period and most cars it is designed for is out of warranty compliance.

They lost PAO base stock probably just a GrpII+ with robust add pack now smh

Saw today on the Mobil 1 website that Mobil 1 Extended Performance is no longer Dexos approved either.
