Can you use the 0w30 in place of the 5w30? Winters coming on and it seems like 0w30 would provide better lubrication in cold weather?? or am I confused? Any downside to using the 0w30? This is for a 95 Toyota Landcruiser 4.5 liter 6 cylinder with 130K miles. It's been using synthetics for the past 100K miles.

In short, use the 5w-30 or even 10w-30. It's a better oil.

But if you already have it use it. The difference would be slight-if any different. If you were going to extend your oil change to maybe 10K miles or so you might want to stay away from the 0W-30.

I live in northern Minnesota and have used the 5W30 Mobil 1 and the 0W30 Mobil 1. Both worked fine all year long (winter through summer).
Only difference I noticed is the fuel mileage was better with the 0W30 (about 2 to 3 mpg more in the summer, and about 1 or 2 in the winter).

Good Day,
Steven
