Girlfriend's results from her 2001 Pt Cruiser. 2.4L, 75% highway miles, around 2,000 miles/month. Oil was in for 5,100 miles over a little over a two month period. Using an oversized M1 Filter. Will go to at least 6,000 miles the next change. She lost some coolant, so I wanted to make sure it was just due to the bad cap and not a leak. Luckily it was!

Blackstone Comments:Good News - No Anti-Freeze Was Found! There wasn't any fuel or water either. The TBN was still okay at 3.1, showing some active additive left. 1.0 is low. All of the wear metals read well below the universal averages (which are based on a 4,300 mile oil run) for this type of engine. Low silicon and insolubles indicates good air and oil filtration. The viscosity measured in the correct range for a Mobil 10W30 oil. As good as this engine is performing, we think you could easily increase your oil change interval to 6,500 miles for the next sample. Nice 4-cylinder!

Any additional comments are appreciated by the oil gurus!

I'm no oil guru, but that's a very nice report! As someone who drives another Mopar 4-cyl(97 Neon 2.0 L DOHC 5-sp, 188K miles & counting), I'm always glad to see another good report on "our" engines.

And it seems that with minimal care, the Mopar 2.0 L SOHC & DOHC , & the 2.4 L DOHC 4-cyls, are all prime candidates for multi-100 K mile lives.

That is an impressive UOA. I think that 6K would be easily achievable. Your TBN remained high and insolubles were low. The fuel dilution was high, but I would imagine that you changed the oil after a short trip or idling?

I can't help but notice that you are using a M1 filter. I am using one on my current OCI with M1EP 5W30. I think that they are worth the few $$ extra if you are extending your OCI over 5K. I wouldn't change a thing...except maybe leave the M1 in longer.

Thanks for the replies! I plan on bringing it up past 6K on the next change.
For me, the M1 filters are a little overpriced, but their quality is obvious, so it's worth it for peace of mind.
I forgot to mention that this car is just past 60K, so fairly average mileage, but the miles are racking up pretty quickly these days.

Oh, and the fuel dilution was actually listed as
On a side note, when she started dating me, the car was getting 18-19 mpg. Now, a year later, it's getting 23-24 mpg. It's amazing what some good maintenance, and brakes that don't drag, will do for ya!
