Does 10W40 come in a 4.83L/5.1 U.S. Qts jug? I'm not stupid. I have several degrees and wrench for a living. I know what 0W40 looks like.

The three jugs were tagged at $24.99 and I got 25% off making them $17.99. I can't imagine someone so pathetic that they would make a story like this up. I am having a difficult time imagining that people doubt it happened. It isn't like I claimed I tagged Selena Gomez or something.

Yes, HM 10W40 comes in jugs. Wal-mart and other stores have it.

I think if you just post a pic everyone will leave you alone. :-)

Can you divulge where you bought them? Or is that something you want to keep confidential?

I think he bought it from an auto parts store in some city/town in Missouri, not Walmart. Walmart carries 5-qt jugs not 5.1 quarts jugs.

He got 25% off with coupon(s) or with special discount(s). But it's a good deal even at regular price of $24.99 a jug.

He doesn't want to disclose the store where he bought it and how he got 25% off, nothing anyone can do/say to change his mind.

We've seen it here on BITOG so many times before - people claiming they saw something, then upon a second look realizing they saw/bought something close but different. That's why some members are skeptical by now. Please don't take it the wrong way.

It would also help if you'd provide the name of the retailer so that others could verify the info for themselves. Withholding information does not exactly help your credibility, although I personally do believe you.

I saw you asked me on the other thread about the O'Reilly's pricing, but since M10W40 jugs has its own thread, I'd just figured I'd answer it here.

The $29.99 was the in-store price. The stuff was kinda sitting on the floor in cases, looking like it had literally just gotten off the truck. The sign attached to it was an official-looking O'Reilly's sign though, not some sorta manager's special scribbled with a magic marker... So, maybe it's going on sale at some point and they put it out early? Don't know, and I don't have a car that uses this, so I didn't ask any questions. But if you go into the Issaquah, WA O'Reilly's you can pick up the jugs for $29.99.

Why? I did not have any questions about it.

I never understood why bottles of oil are the norm and jugs are not???????

You typically need between 4-6 litres of oil per OC. With jugs there is less hassel, less packaging and less cost.

So why do we get only a selected few available in jugs???

Because if you have a car that holds 5.5 quarts and a jug holds 5 quarts, then what are you going to do? You'd have to purchase two jugs, making the whole oil change more expensive. Remember, most people don't stash oil like some of the bitogers do. They only buy what's needed for a single oil change, be it because they don't want to spend more or they don't have the space to store the extra oil, or both.

Understand what you are saying but 1 jug and 1 bottle to make up the 5.5Qt OC cost less to package, ship, store, & space on the shelf then the equivilant 6 bottles....IMO they still have it backwards ;-)
