I'm impressed myself. This is the most mileage I ever had on a car and I'm 68 years old. I also have the 3.3 engine. It has a very small front seal leak which I believe is why I have to top it off with 1/4 qt every 2000 miles. I can't detect any oil burning.

Yes the new Malibu and 2013 Chevy Spark run dexos 5w20, Funny thing though in the Spark owners manual says can use 0w30 in winter.I guess they dont hang out at Bitog ..I would thing that it would be better to run 0w20 instead. My dealer uses ACdelco (Petrocan) for dexos and Castrol Syntec for synthetic...I will be getting it done in US at dealership for 65 USD for Mobil 1 synthetic.

I will most likely change every 4 mos this way I can time tire changes based on season and OIl weight JUly 1st OCI / October switch to 0w30 M1 and winter tires /Jan. 0w30 M1 / then off with winter tires in April switching back to 5w20 Does this sound reasonable?? The reson that I ask Im still not sure of OCI with GM OLM on the spark..Timing chain with ACdelco FActory fill now at 88% mostly Highway . I have only 1500KM /930 Miles on it

That is news if GM are specifying the 5W-20 grade now!
Do you have a link or something like it as we'd love to see it?

Anyway if 5W-20 is specified then stick to the 20wt grade.
And you winter use Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0W-20 that is available in Canada now would be a logical oil choice.

GM is already spec'd 5w20 for the 2013 malibu, spark, and ATS. Also will for the 2014 silverado...


Wait, those new specs should roll out pretty quick! Expect them to follow with a 0w30/0w20 after this 5w20 (which no one even knew about)

Heck, even ford is heading with a 0w20 weight soon....

Mobil 1 0w20 and Mobil 1 0w30 are both officially Dexos 1 approved. They are both on the official GM Dexos list, and have been even before this thread began almost a year ago.

Remember the 0w30....but the 0w20 surprised me....

Actually, it *is* dexos approved.

It is listed on both the GM dexos website and The Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy page

But I haven't actually seen the dexos approval on the bottle.
