My take from this is that you are saying the fuel in the oil is reducing fuel mileage. That is only 0.175 quarts of fuel that accumulated in the oil over a 12k mile OCI. Completely insignificant as far as fuel mileage is concerned.

You're forgetting that fuel in the oil gets burned off when the engine gets hot, so for 12k miles fuel has been getting into the oil and being burned off at the same time so there's actually a lot more fuel loss then just your 0.175 calculation.

You said fuel gets burned off when the engine gets hot. Moisture can burn off, but a lot of fuel can and does mix in with the oil and stays there. That's why the FP in this case is so low.

Flame temp for gas is about 1000 C if spark is not present.
Oil temp is about 300F never reach that high not even close.
But it evaporates to some extent on a very long extended ride.
Moisture is a different story.

The engine in my Mazdaspeed3 has been called the "poster child" for destroying many oils. With DI, turbo and 116.5hp/L, it is a beast. We have seen many good UOAs in this engine with Pennzoil Platinum run for 5,000 miles. I'd start there with OEM recommended weight and increase your OCI as your UOAs indicate.

As you can see below, I also use M1 especially 0W-xx grades for cars that sit outside in the winter.

Too many people are getting unnecessarily excited about this report, and bad-mouthing Mobil-1 0W30 in the process. This engine has relatively few miles on it and was run for a 10K mile OCI at a young age. This has nothing to do with the oil, but the oil monitoring system. Show me a UOA from 40K to 50K, from this vehicle, using the same exact oil and a different picture will be shown. Guaranteed.

So is the consensus that if you do have fuel in the oil that only a small amount of it will evaporate at running temp and the majority will stay?
