Mobil 1 0W-40 'Energy Conserving'?

I wish they would have just made it a 5w-40 like D1. This oil just thins out to much IMO. 0w-30 spread is enough. This whole "energy consering" mess is overkill IMO along side 20wt oils to save miniscule mpg.
 
The 0w-40 I ahve been buying does not have energy conserving in its symbol.

The very first batch of M1 0w-40 I saw (on a pic here a long time ago) did....

The Autozone near where I live always puts the new stock of Motor oil on the shelf by first pushing the old stock to the back of the shelf
and then placing the new stock in the front. They have motor oil that in some cases may be several years old on the back of the shelf and todays delivery of oil placed in the front for the next customer to buy! Some of the oil could be two or three years old judging by the amount of dirt and dust covering it!

For example you can clearly see how Exxon and Mobil have changed their bottle design and labels three times in the past few years.
